What is the Focal Plane Shutter
There are different types of camera shutters, but the one that is most commonly used in today’s digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) and mirrorless cameras is the focal-plane shutter.  There are different types of focal-plane shutters, each of which shares the fact that they are located directly in front of the camera’s sensor.  However, the characteristic they all have in common is that they sit within the camera body directly next to the sensors, as opposed to somewhere else, such as in the lens attached to your camera.

When do you need a new Focal Plane Shutter?
This is one of the easiest failures to identify. Remove the digital back and look into the camera's rear aperture, if the Focal Plane Shutter has failed the blades will be visible and one or more will be distorted/twisted.

Reasons your Focal Plane Shutter has failed
The 645 Focal Plane Shutter is large and the overlapping blinds are extremely thin and are held together with tiny flat rivets.  The blinds will collect minute particles of dust and moisture (condensation) combine this with friction and over time this causes the blinds to stick and then they can go out of synchronisation causing the blinds to flex, and this is one of the main reasons they fail. 

What is the Procedure
The Camera needs to be delivered to our service point in London
The camera will then be sent to the Phase One Service Centre where it will undergo a full service check as well as a Focal Plane Shutter replacement.

Check Firmware Level and upgrade where required
Check and replace repair ports
Check and test the Battery Compartment
Check and test the touchscreen interface
Clean
Replace the Focal Plane Shutter
Final Check and Test

The service and exchange Focal Plane Shutter is £670 + VAT
The cost of shipping the Camera to Phase One by Secure and Insured International Courier 2x £50 + VAT
