Phase One Wake-Up Cable is used to manually activate (or "wake up") a digital back’s sensor before taking a photo with a mechanical-shutter camera, such as a technical or large-format camera.

Primary Purpose
On mechanical camera systems, there is no integrated electronic communication between the lens shutter and the digital back. The digital back's sensor remains "asleep" to prevent heat build-up and digital noise. The wake-up cable provides the necessary signal to prepare the sensor for capture.

How It Works

  • One-Shot Mode: It allows the digital back to operate in "one-shot" mode on mechanical shutters (e.g., Copal).
  • Physical Button: The cable features a small button that the photographer presses immediately before firing the shutter.
  • Timing: After pressing the button, the sensor stays active for approximately 4–5 seconds. The shutter must be fired within this window, or the capture will be abandoned.
  • Hardware Compatibility: It is compatible with Phase One P/P+, IQ1/IQ2/IQ3, and IQ4 series backs, as well as Mamiya Leaf Credo backs.
